Dapeng New District accelerates the construction of “4+3+N” strategic emerging industries and future industry system, develops and strengthens the four strategic emerging industry clusters of new energy, biomedicine, health and ocean, seizes the development opportunities of the three major future industries of synthetic biology, cells and genes and deep sea, and actively cultivates the special industry clusters of air and space technology, high-end medical devices, modern fashion, semiconductor and integrated circuits.

In 2022, the new district made significant strides in the development of strategic emerging industries, demonstrating steady progress and contributing to the district's economic growth. The added value of these industries amounted to 22.55 billion yuan (US$3.08 billion), representing a 3.8% increase and accounting for 58.9% of the district’s GDP. The achievement positioned the new district as the second-highest contributor to GDP within the city. Notably, the new energy cluster played a vital role, with an added value of 17.82 billion yuan, marking a 1.4% increase and serving as a crucial driver of economic growth in the district. Similarly, the biomedical and health industry cluster witnessed an impressive growth of 46.8%, contributing an added value of 453 million yuan. This sector’s outstanding performance indicates that it has entered a phase of rapid development. Moreover, the marine industry cluster experienced positive growth, while the semiconductor and integrated circuit industry cluster achieved remarkable progress, recording an added value of 1.49 billion yuan, a notable increase of 52%.
