In Dapeng New District, which houses a cluster of new energy industries, several national and provincial nuclear power and gas power plants are strategically located. These facilities provide a significant portion of the gas, electricity, and oil supply for Shenzhen, including 76% of the gas, 54% of the electricity and 60% of the oil. Additionally, they contribute 14% of the natural gas and 10% of the electricity for Guangdong Province. Furthermore, Dapeng New District supplies 25% of the electricity for Hong Kong, making it a crucial energy hub for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The green low-carbon industry in 2022 had an annual output value of 18.04 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 1.6%. This industry includes the rapid development of new energy storage, with prominent companies, like BYD Co. Ltd. and Vision Group, specializing in lithium-ion power batteries. The new energy materials sector in Dapeng also flourishes, with enterprises such as Zhongxing Innovation Material Technologies Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen KNQ Technology Co. Ltd. The new generation of electronic information industry had an annual output value of 2.92 billion yuan in 2022, experiencing a remarkable year-on-year growth of 29.7%. The semiconductor and integrated circuit industry within this sector shows immense potential, with BYD Semiconductor Co. Ltd. leading the way in IGBT 4.0 technology (IGBT stands for insulated-gate bipolar transistor), ranking as the second-largest IGBT manufacturer globally and the largest in China. Currently, Dapeng is home to Shenzhen’s first LNG (liquefied natural gas) cold energy utilization pilot project, paving the way for future major energy projects, such as the national pipeline network Shenzhen LNG emergency peaking station project, Shenzhen natural gas reserve and peaking reservoir Phase II expansion project, Guangdong Dapeng LNG receiving station expansion project, and the CNOOC Shenzhen power plant upgrade project. The development of these projects is progressing rapidly.
